He unfortunately came three weeks early and did not have an easy start in life, hence the subject of breastfeeding was a story in itself.

With every bite I was in pain and just about screamed.

Using the pump for the first time was a breath of fresh air.

At one point I could only feed with my right breast.

I turned out to be a mother with a lot of milk, a lot of milk. Bottles full I pumped weekly and the freezer soon filled up.

I took it in my bag to a festival and even there I got compliments on the design of the pump.

I gratefully realized that having a fine pump in the house also gives you that bit of security should there be an emergency.

When our daughter was born she had a spirited start so she did not manage to drink at the breast, I had a very hard time with this.

When I found out that as an adoptive mom I might also be able to breastfeed, I didn't hesitate for a moment.

If, like me, you have a "flat" nipple, then you have a mode where you can pull your nipples out, so to speak, so that it sits snugly in the membrane.
